We are excited to welcome young composer Noémi Büchi to the Light of Other Days roster. Her debut Ep «Matière» is the result of an extensive study with a modular synthesizer as her instrument of choice mixed with field recordings of sounds and noises surrounding her every day life. Apart from being a student of Electroacoustic Composition and listening to tons of music, Noémi finds most of her inspiration in long nature walks through nearby forests and foggy hills situated close to her bedroom studio.

With her music she leads the listener safely through deep paths of complex rhythms and otherworldly sounds. Her awareness of timbre, nuance and harmonic diversity are constantly matched with her ability to produce fresh and revealing arrangements.

This one comes from DJ Zunami. She is a resident at Kraftfeld, serious digger and great person. I can’t really remember the first I heard DJ Zunami play one of her DJ-Sets. Somehow she was always there and with her her music. No fuss, no wild promo action, but great selection and cutting-edge music with a clear focus on the bass continuum. Merci Zunami for your fantastic mix.

Best of in-between waves

Between the waves the excitement of what comes next. Tidal wave or small current. The tempos are not always aligned, they flow differently. Smooth sometimes or break into each other with difficulty. Everybody is afraid of the next one or is euphorically relaxed about what comes next. An IG-Story shows only a small moment of this compilation. Maybe that’s what it is: A selection of songs that are currently appearing, to which one just sinks. More a listening session than a mix. At best something to discover, maybe a well-placed challenge. Between blog music and block music.

Das ist es vielleicht: Eine Auswahl von Liedern, die momentan auftauchen, zu denen man grad absinkt. Mehr eine Listening-session als ein Mix. Im besten Fall etwas zu entdecken, vielleicht eine wohlgelegene Herausforderung. Zwischen Blog-Musik und Block-Musik.

On «A Million Pieces» Slow Glass takes us on a journey from dark ambient spaces to carefree dancefloors. «A Million Pieces» starts out in a state of tension but over the course of the EP, Slow Glass takes the listener to a place of relief. The productions are mainly based on heavily manipulated fieldrecordings and everyday sounds. Slow Glass creates dense soundscapes which build the frame for light-hearted harmonies as well as playful percussion and gloomy synth lines. The EP closes out with «Relieved», a rhythmic dance track with hopping synths and airy guitar that could almost make for a summer song. «A Million Pieces» is an adventurous EP for curious listeners. It is loaded with quirky sounds, rhythmic arpeggios, and impulsive percussions.

The digital package comes with three remixes by the likes of Thunder Tillman, Belia Winnewisser and Gee Dee. The cosmic travellers from Thunder Tillman turn «Release» into a psyched-out journey into space and time. Belia Winnewisser delivers a powerful, club-ready version of «Strained» adding her trademark drum-sounds and label-mate Gee Dee gifts «Release» with a treatment of analog warmth.
